One of the Kings of the herbal culinary family. This leaf is seen across ALL continents in many of the home cooked dishes. It originated in Northern Africa and Southeast Asia.
Its origins are far from where this herb took its place in European and Italian/Mediterranean cuisine. Basil is used has the focal point of garnishes of toppings pizzas, all the way to the aromatic Moroccan Rice, down to Sweet Thai Dishes.
Basil should always be on hand.
